A Circus Invitation was a series of contemporary Circus site-specific performances held by two European Capitals of Culture with the support of the Creative Europe programme. From the 14th to the 20th of June in Elefsina, Greece, (in the framework of the SYNOIKISMOI A FESTIVAL) and from the 16th to the 23rd of September in Veszprém, Hungary, a new poetic form of circus invited us to put aside what separates us, to meet and create TOGETHER. The 8-day action involved 20 circus artists from Greece, Hungary and Ukraine, in artistic interventions designed for the urban landscape with the philosophy of Site Specific Performances. The project was curated by artistic director Albin Warette from Toulouse, France. Circus arts have the power to connect people from all walks of life and create a sense of unity and understanding between different cultures. People and landscapes became one in Elefsina through the co-creation of artists and people in selected parts of the city. At the same time, the Site Specific Performances technique involves works that are not simply presented in a space, but are created taking into account the site - history, architecture, landscape and people - both in their design and in their implementation. "Together! A Circus Invitation" iwas an invitation that brought Elefsina, its inhabitants, as well as artists and fans of the contemporary circus from all over Greece, TOGETHER. The project partners were the following: Monokyklo Circus (GR), The Hungarian Juggling Association (HU), Culture en Movements (FR), and Kyiv Municipal Academy of Performing and Circus Arts (UA) in collaboration with the European Capitals of Culture, 2023 Eleusis and Veszprem - Balaton 2023. A Circus Invitation ήταν μια σειρά από καλλιτεχνικές παρεμβάσεις σύγχρονου τσίρκο, που πραγματοποιήθηκαν μέσω της συνένωσης δύο από τις Πολιτιστικές Πρωτεύουσες της Ευρώπης 2023 με την υποστήριξη του προγράμματος Δημιουργική Ευρώπη. Aπό τις 14 έως τις 20 Ιουνίου στην Ελευσίνα (στο πλαίσιο του ΣΥΝΟΙΚΙΣΜΟΙ ΕΝΑ ΦΕΣΤΙΒΑΛ) και από τις 16 έως τις 23 Σεπτεμβρίου στο Veszprém, η νέα ποιητική μορφή του τσίρκο μας κάλεσε να αφήσουμε στην άκρη ό,τι μας χωρίζει, να βρεθούμε και να δημιουργήσουμε ΜΑΖΙ. Στην 8ήμερη δράση συμμετείχαν 20 καλλιτέχνες του τσίρκο από την Ελλάδα, την Ουγγαρία και την Ουκρανία, σε καλλιτεχνικές παρεμβάσεις σχεδιασμένες για το αστικό τοπίο με τη φιλοσοφία των Site Specific Performances. Το έργο επιμελήθηκε ο καλλιτεχνικός διευθυντής Albin Warette από την Τουλούζη της Γαλλίας. Οι τέχνες του τσίρκο έχουν τη δύναμη να συνδέουν ανθρώπους από όλα τα κοινωνικά στρώματα και να δημιουργούν μια αίσθηση ενότητας και κατανόησης μεταξύ διαφορετικών πολιτισμών. Άνθρωποι και τοπία έγιναν ένα στην Ελευσίνα μέσα από τη συνδημιουργία των καλλιτεχνών και του κόσμου σε επιλεγμένα σημεία της πόλης. Παράλληλα, η τεχνική των Site Specific Performances αφορά έργα που όχι απλά παρουσιάζονται σε έναν χώρο, αλλά δημιουργούνται λαμβάνοντας υπόψη την τοποθεσία -ιστορία, αρχιτεκτονική, τοπίο και άνθρωποι- τόσο στον σχεδιασμό όσο και στην υλοποίηση. Το “Together! A Circus Invitation” ήταν μια πρόσκληση που έφερε την Ελευσίνα, τους κατοικους της, αλλά και καλλιτέχνες και θαυμαστές του σύγχρονου τσίρκο από όλη την Ελλάδα, ΜΑΖΙ. Φορείς υλοποίησης του έργου ήταν οι εξής: ΜΟΝΟΚΥΚΛΟ (GR), Hungarian Juggling Association (HU), η Culture en Movements (FR) και η Kiev Municipal Academy of Performing and Circus Arts (UA) σε συνεργασία με τις Πολιτιστικές Πρωτεύουσες Ευρώπης 2023 Ελευσίς και Veszprem - Balaton 2023.
