The programme included five screenings in five different locations of exceptional aesthetic and historical importance, thus showcasing the ever-changing landscape of Elefsina and offering a new opportunity to “study” five brilliant films. The cinematic journey began on Friday 23rd July wth the Final Cut of Francis Ford Coppola’s masterpiece “Apocalypse Now”, at the impressive location of “Vlycha”. On Saturday 24th July, the beautiful Old Olive Oil Mill Theatre of Elefsina hosted a unique and unprecedented screening of the unsurpassed “Nosferatu” with Nikos Veliotis producing haunting music to accompany Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau’s gothic imagery. In addition, on Sunday 25th July audience members journeyed to the glorious Art Cinema of the 70s with the screening of Michelangelo Antonioni’s “The Passenger” in the Parking Lot of the Old Olive Oil Mill. The last stop in this cinematic four-day event and the culmination of the activities of the Athens Open Air Film Festival in co-organization with “2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture” was on Monday 26th July with a double screening-experience in two emblematic spaces of Elefsina: at the Archaeological site of Elefsina the film "Mourning Rock" by Filippos Koutsaftis was screened, while a unique performance, a dialogue and a tribute to the memorable “Mourning Rock”, by the actor Takis Vasileiou was presented. On the same night, a few minutes apart from the screening of the film “Mourning Rock”, in yet another emblematic location of Elefsina (the area of Karnagio Gefyra), Aki Kaurismäki’s "Le Havre" was screened amidst ships with illuminated hulls, moored boats and with the moon rising right above the big screen, adding an extra romantic touch to an already beautiful evening. Athens Open Air Film Festival was implemented with the support of the Municipality of Elefsis, the Ephorate of Antiquities of Western Attica and the Elefsina Port Authority. In the following years, the Mystery 23 Cine Eleusis: IN SITU REALITIES was implemented in July 2022 as well as IN SITU REALITIES: Eleusis Documentary Festival in December 2023.Το Athens Open Air Film Festival στην Ελευσίνα ήταν ένα τετραημέρο φεστιβάλ κινηματογράφου με προβολές ταινιών σε εμβληματικές τοποθεσίες της πόλης, που πραγματοποιήθηκε τον Ιούλιο του 2021. Το πρόγραμμα περιλάμβανε πέντε προβολές με ελεύθερη είσοδο σε πέντε τοποθεσίες ιδιαίτερης αισθητικής και ιστορικής σημασίας, αναδεικνύοντας το διαρκώς μεταβαλλόμενο περιβάλλον της Ελευσίνας και προσφέροντας μια εκ νέου «ανάγνωση» πέντε εκπληκτικών φιλμ από τον παγκόσμιο και τον ελληνικό κινηματογράφο. Το κινηματογραφικό ταξίδι ξεκίνησε την Παρασκευή 23 Ιουλίου, με την προβολή του Final Cut στο αριστούργημα του Φράνσις Φορντ Κόπολα, «Αποκάλυψη Τώρα», στην εντυπωσιακή τοποθεσία «Βλύχα». Το Σάββατο 24 Ιουλίου, το πανέμορφο Θέατρο του Παλαιού Ελαιουργείου της Ελευσίνας φιλοξένησε μια μοναδική και ανεπανάληπτη προβολή του αξεπέραστου «Νοσφεράτου: Μια Συμφωνία Τρόμου» με τον Νίκο Βελιώτη να στοιχειώνει μουσικά τις γοτθικές εικόνες του σκηνοθέτη Φρίντριχ Βίλεμ Μούρναου, συνθέτοντας πρωτότυπη μουσική. Ακολούθως, την Κυριακή 25 Ιουλίου το κοινό ταξίδεψε στο ένδοξο καλλιτεχνικό σινεμά των 70ς με το «Επάγγελμα Ρεπόρτερ» του Μικελάντζελο Αντονιόνι να προβάλλεται στον ιδιαίτερης αισθητικής Χώρο Στάθμευσης του Παλαιού Ελαιουργείου. Τελευταίος διπλός σταθμός του κινηματογραφικού τετραήμερου και κορύφωση των δράσεων του Athens Open Air Film Festival σε συνδιοργάνωση με την «Ελευσίνα 2023 Πολιτιστική Πρωτεύουσα Ευρώπης» ήταν η Δευτέρα 26 Ιουλίου, με μια διπλή προβολή-εμπειρία: στον Αρχαιολογικό χώρο Ελευσίνας, προβλήθηκε η "Αγέλαστος Πέτρα" του Φίλιππου Κουτσαφτή και ακολούθησε ένα μοναδικό δρώμενο – performance, ένας διάλογος μα και φόρος τιμής προς την ιστορική «Αγέλαστο Πέτρα» από τον ηθοποιό Τάσο Βασιλείου. Την ίδια βραδιά, με ελάχιστα λεπτά διαφορά από την προβολή της ταινίας «Αγέλαστος Πέτρα», σε ένα ακόμη εμβληματικό σημείο της Ελευσίνας (τον παραθαλάσσιο χώρο του Καρνάγιου «Η Γέφυρα»), προβλήθηκε το «Λιμάνι της Χάβρης» του Άκι Καουρισμάκι, ανάμεσα σε φωτισμένα σκαριά πλοίων, αγκυροβολημένα σκάφη και με την ανατολή του φεγγαριού, ακριβώς πάνω από τη μεγάλη οθόνη της προβολής, να προσθέτει μια επιπλέον ρομαντική νότα στην ήδη πανέμορφη βραδιά. Το Athens Open Air Film Festival πραγματοποιήθηκε με την υποστήριξη του Δήμου Ελευσίνας, της Εφορείας Αρχαιοτήτων Δυτικής Αττικής και του Οργανισμού Λιμένος Ελευσίνας.
