2025-05-162025-05-162021-06-252021-06-26https://eleusis2023.athenarc.gr/repo/handle/idx/2457Μystery 39 The Free Besieged was a site-specific performance directed by Eleni Efthymiou, in collaboration with the residents of Elefsina, and held in June 2021 at the Old Oil Mill Factory Parking. Its poetic composition was inspired by the siege of Messolonghi and the exodus, one of the events that decisively influenced the course of the Greek Revolution. The conversation between the past and the present, the reinterpretation of the historical events that marked the course of the modern Greek state, the relationship between those Besieged and their present counterparts in a modern city with a long history, were some of the themes explored through the site-specific performance. The demands of 1821 for freedom, and the incessant struggle of the people for resistance against any tyrannical imposition, as recorded by Solomos in his incomplete works, remain imperatives—with only slight differentiations—200 years later, within the performance’s interaction with Solomos’ text. The action was part of the anniversary program of 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture, under the general title “Elefsina and the Revolution”.Το Μυστήριο 39 Ελεύθεροι Πολιορκημένοι ήταν μία site-specific παράσταση σε σκηνοθεσία της Ελένης Ευθυμίου, σε συνεργασία με τους ίδιους τους κατοίκους της Ελευσίνας, που πραγματοποιήθηκε τον Ιούνιο του 2021 στο Parking Παλαιού Ελαιουργείου Ελευσίνας. Η ποιητική σύνθεση της παράστασης ήταν εμπνευσμένη από την πολιορκία του Μεσολογγίου και την Έξοδο, ένα από τα γεγονότα της Ελληνικής Επανάστασης που επηρέασαν καθοριστικά την πορεία της. Η συνομιλία ανάμεσα στο παρελθόν και το παρόν, η επανανοηματοδότηση των ιστορικών γεγονότων που σημάδεψαν την πορεία του νεοελληνικού κράτους, η σχέση ανάμεσα σε εκείνους τους Πολιορκημένους και τους σημερινούς, μιας σύγχρονης πόλης με μακραίωνη ιστορία, ήταν οι αναζητήσεις της. Τα αιτούμενα του 1821 για ελευθερία και ο ακατάπαυστος αγώνας του ανθρώπου για αντίσταση σε οποιαδήποτε τυραννική επιβολή, όπως τα κατέγραψε ο Σολωμός στα ανολοκλήρωτα σχεδιάσματα του έργου του, παραμένουν επιταγές – με όχι πολύ μεγάλες διαφοροποιήσεις – 200 χρόνια μετά, στη συνομιλία της παράστασης με το σολωμικό κείμενο.
