2025-06-062025-06-062023-09-162023-10-01https://eleusis2023.athenarc.gr/repo/handle/idx/2621Mystery 200 Mythological Gardens transformed an empty and desolate space into a fertile place and garden, where the revival of narratives of ancient Eleusis and ancient Greece was attempted, as well as their interconnection with the recent and modern history of the city. In an open space within the IRIS residential complex, a blooming ecological microcosm was created with the aim of directing the attention of residents and visitors of the city toward the Demetrian gardens and their healing energies—serving as a counterpoint to the escalating environmental crisis and degradation. The garden was the core of the project but was enriched through actions that sought to interpret aspects of both the ancient and modern world. The Inauguration of the Mythological Gardens took place on September 16, 2023, through a site-specific walking performance by Brian Michaels and Andreas Konstantinou. The two performers hosted and guided visitors through the IRIS space, speaking in Greek and English. Guests were taken on a mythological mystery tour through the stories of our gardens. It was not a botanical excursion, but a meeting with the narrative framework of transformation inspired by our ancient seeds. Slowly, step by step, the visitors witnessed the emergence of new old worlds. The space was transformed through plants, flowers, scents, sounds, voices, dance, texts, and visual projections, and visitors were invited to observe, listen, and contribute—perhaps by writing their own short stories or sharing their photos at the end of the tour. This tangible transformation was accompanied by artistic interventions: the interpretation of Cassandra by Daria Fain, and Medea, embodied by Palestinian actress Nisren Faour. The goal was for art and science to interweave in an exemplary manner, thus creating a new (C)hronology for Elefsina. Following that, Live Acts were presented, including soundscapes, performances, screenings, and guided tours by international and local artists, curated by Brian Michaels, Sozita Goudouna, and Kate Peila. First among them was the liminal, dreamy, and ironic performance “A Crack” by Anna Furse, presented on October 1, 2023. “A Crack” was a new Anglo-Greek theatrical work tackling urgent issues of our time. Ironic, surreal, dark, and humorous, in this physically charged dialogue, the duo shared their anxiety, despair, and hope. “A Crack” spoke of destruction—a world tilting on its axis. It stared unflinchingly into the abyss while imagining utopia. It expressed a quest for meaning, renewal, and a journey toward the future. The text hovered somewhere between the banality and urgency of social media and the philosophical discourse of Greek tragedy. The performers voiced their dreams, their panic, their thirst for change. “A Crack” was co-created and performed by two women artists, each residing in different and new worlds post-Brexit: they are three decades apart in age, one a mother, the other a grandmother. Supported by the Unity Theatre Trust and Arts Council EnglandΤο Μυστήριο 200 Μυθολογικοί Κήποι μεταμόρφωσε έναν άδειο, και έρημο χώρο σε εύφορο τόπο και κήπο, όπου επιχειρήθηκε η αναβίωση του αφηγήματος της αρχαίας Ελευσίνας και της αρχαίας Ελλάδας, καθώς και η διασύνδεσή τους με την πρόσφατη και σύγχρονη ιστορία της πόλης. Σε έναν ελεύθερο χώρο στο συγκρότημα κατοικιών του ΙΡΙΣ, δημιουργήθηκε ένας ανθισμένος οικολογικός μικρόκοσμος, με σκοπό να κατευθύνει την προσοχή των κατοίκων και των επισκεπτών της πόλης στους Δημήτριους κήπους και στις ιαματικές ενέργειές, σε αντιδιαστολή με την εντεινόμενη περιβαλλοντική κρίση και υποβάθμιση. Ο κήπος ήταν ο πυρήνας του έργου, αλλά εμπλουτίστηκε μέσω δράσεων που επιχείρησαν να ερμηνεύσουν πτυχές τόσο του αρχαίου όσο και του σύγχρονου κόσμου. Τα Εγκαίνια των Μυθολογικών Κήπων έλαβαν χώρα στις 16 Σεπτεμβρίου 2023, μέσα από μια περιπατητική περφόρμανς από τους Brian Michaels, και Ανδρέα Κωνσταντίνου. Δύο περφόρμερ φιλοξένησαν και ξενάγησαν τους επισκέπτες στον χώρο του ΙΡΙΣ, μιλώντας στα ελληνικά και στα αγγλικά. Οι επισκέπτες ξεναγήθηκαν σε μια μυθολογική περιήγηση μυστηρίου μέσα από τις ιστορίες των κήπων μας. Δεν ήταν μια βοτανική εκδρομή, αλλά μια συνάντηση με το αφηγηματικό πλαίσιο της μεταμόρφωσης που εμπνέουν οι αρχαίοι μας σπόροι. Αργά, βήμα προς βήμα, οι επισκέπτες έγιναν μάρτυρες της ανάδυσης νέων παλιών κόσμων. Ο χώρος μεταμορφώθηκε από φυτά, λουλούδια, μυρωδιές, ήχους, φωνές, χορό, κείμενα και οπτικοποιήσεις, και οι επισκέπτες κλήθηκαν να παρατηρήσουν, να ακούσουν και να συνεισφέρουν – ίσως γράφοντας τις δικές τους σύντομες ιστορίες ή αποκαλύπτοντας τις φωτογραφίες τους μετά το τέλος της περιήγησης. Η απτή μεταμόρφωση συνοδεύτηκε από καλλιτεχνικές δράσεις: η ερμηνεία της Κασσάνδρας από την Daria Fain, και η Μήδεια που ενσαρκώθηκε από την Παλαιστίνια ηθοποιό Nisren Faour. Στόχος ήταν η τέχνη και η επιστήμη να παρεμβληθούν με υποδειγματικό τρόπο δημιουργώντας έτσι ένα νέο (Κ)ρονολόγιο για την Ελευσίνα. Στη συνέχεια υλοποιήθηκαν Live Acts (Ζωντανές Δράσεις) που περιέλαβαν ηχοτοπία, παραστάσεις, προβολές, ξεναγήσεις από διεθνείς και τοπικούς καλλιτέχνες, υπό την επιμέλεια των Brian Michaels, Sozita Goudouna και Kate Peila. Πρώτη, η μεταιχμιακά ονειροπόλα και ειρωνική performance “Α Crack” της Anna Furse, που παρουσίαστηκε την 1η Οκτωβρίου 2023. Το  “Α Crack” ήταν ένα νέο αγγλοελληνικό θεατρικό έργο για φλέγοντα ζητήματα του σήμερα. Ειρωνικό, σουρεαλιστικό, σκοτεινό και αστείο, σε αυτόν τον σωματικά φορτισμένο διάλογο το ντουέτο μοιράζεται το άγχος, την απόγνωση και την ελπίδα τους. Το  “Α Crack” μιλούσε για καταστροφή, έναν κόσμο που γέρνει στον άξονά του. Κοιτάζει απερίσπαστα την άβυσσο, ενώ φαντάζεται ουτοπία. Εκφράζει μια αναζήτηση για νόημα, ανανέωση και μια πορεία προς το μέλλον. Το κείμενο βρίσκεται κάπου μεταξύ της κοινοτοπίας και του επείγοντος των μέσων κοινωνικής δικτύωσης και του φιλοσοφικού λόγου της ελληνικής τραγωδίας. Οι ερμηνευτές λένε τα όνειρά τους, τον πανικό τους, τη δίψα τους για αλλαγή. Το  “Α Crack” συνδημιουργείται και ερμηνεύεται από δύο γυναίκες καλλιτέχνες, που η καθεμία κατοικεί σε διαφορετικούς και νέους κόσμους μετά το Brexit: έχουν τρεις δεκαετίες διαφορά ηλικίας, η μία μητέρα και η άλλη γιαγιά.
