| dc.description | Mystery 183 Apothéri was a project - assortment of contemporary art, gastronomy and traditional festival, that was presented at the Megara Railway Station by contemporary artists and other creators, having as a starting point the production of the primary sector (agriculture, poultry, fishing, etc.), of the city but also of the wider region. The project examined how the dipoles of traditional/modern, rural/urban and coexistence/interaction in that specific place could bring together contemporary art with the imprint of the past. Visual artists were invited to discover and clarify these ambiguous concepts in collaboration with distinguished cooks/chefs. This Mystery was the fruit of some artists-in-residence / workshops organized during the summer and the September of 2023, during which edible raw materials as a medium for the creation of works of art were chosen by exploring the identity and tradition of the primary sector of Megara. The local residents and producers told some stories, shared traditional recipes and presented the customs and the excellent quality of their products. The artists and the chefs did some research, were inspired and worked with this cultural material, creatively utilized the raw materials of the region and thus produced edible works of art (performances and installations), which the visitors enjoyed in a celebration where the food, as the biological fuel of the human body, recalled memories. At the same time, individuals and local folklore associations of Megara and Nea Peramos, who love and study local cuisine, have been invited to cook. The evening reached its peak with an all-night feast accompanied by traditional music by a live orchestra. The aim of the action was for the Apothéri Project not to be the end of an era but to be a pioneering field of innovative discussions, as well as a landmark for the place and the creative management of the cultural heritage to foster further connections, to symbolically and practically reorganize the relations between the inhabitants of the community and to decisively contribute to the development of the wider area of Megara. The project was implemented with the financing of the Region of Attica and the support of the Municipality of Megara, traditional associations and private local sponsors. | dc.description | Το Μυστήριο 183 Αποθέρι Project ήταν ένα έργο - συνονθύλευμα σύγχρονης τέχνης, γαστρονομίας και πανηγυριού, που πραγματοποιήθηκε στον Παλαιό Σιδηροδρομικό Σταθμό των Μεγάρων από σύγχρονους καλλιτέχνες και δημιουργούς, με αφετηρία την παραγωγή του πρωτογενούς τομέα (γεωργία, πτηνοτροφία, αλιεία κ.ά.), της πόλης αλλά και της ευρύτερης περιοχής. Το εγχείρημα εξέταζε πώς τα δίπολα παραδοσιακό/σύγχρονο, αγροτικό/αστικό και συνύπαρξη/διάδραση στον συγκεκριμένο τόπο, μπορούν να φέρουν κοντά τη σύγχρονη τέχνη με το αποτύπωμα του παρελθόντος. Οι εικαστικοί καλλιτέχνες προσκλήθηκαν να ανακαλύψουν και να αποσαφηνίσουν αυτές τις αμφίσημες έννοιες σε συνεργασία με διακεκριμένους/ες μάγειρες/μαγείρισσες/σεφ. Το Μυστήριο αυτό αποτέλεσε καρπό κάποιων artists-in-residence / workshops που διοργανώθηκαν το καλοκαίρι και τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2023, κατά την διάρκεια των οποίων οι βρώσιμες πρώτες ύλες ως μέσο για τη δημιουργία έργων τέχνης επιλέχθηκαν διερευνώντας την ταυτότητα και την παράδοση του πρωτογενούς τομέα των Μεγάρων. Οι ντόπιοι κάτοικοι και παραγωγοί αφηγήθηκαν τις ιστορίες, τις παραδοσιακές συνταγές και παρουσίασαν τα έθιμα και την εξαιρετική ποιότητα των προϊόντων τους. Οι καλλιτέχνες μαζί με τους σεφ ερεύνησαν, εμπνεύστηκαν και εργάστηκαν με αυτό το πολιτισμικό απόθεμα, αξιοποίησαν δημιουργικά τις πρώτες ύλες της περιοχής και έτσι παράχθηκαν βρώσιμα έργα τέχνης (performance και εγκαταστάσεις), τα οποία οι επισκέπτες «μετέλαβαν» σε μια γιορτή που η τροφή, ως το βιολογικό καύσιμο του ανθρώπινου σώματος, μετέφερε αισθητηριακές προεκτάσεις, συγκίνησε και ανακάλεσε μνήμες. Παράλληλα προσκλήθηκαν να μαγειρέψουν άτομα και τοπικοί λαογραφικοί σύλλογοι των Μεγάρων και της Νέας Περάμου, που αγαπούν και μελετούν την τοπική κουζίνα. Η βραδιά κορυφώθηκε με ολονύκτιο γλέντι συνοδεία παραδοσιακής μουσικής από ζωντανή ορχήστρα. Στόχος της δράσης ήταν το Αποθέρι Project να μην είναι ένα «τέλος εποχής» αλλά να αποτελέσει πρωτοποριακό πεδίο καινοτόμων συζητήσεων, καθώς και ορόσημο για τον τόπο· η δημιουργική διαχείριση της πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς να καλλιεργήσει περαιτέρω συνδέσεις, να αναδιοργανώσει συμβολικά και έμπρακτα τις σχέσεις μεταξύ των κατοίκων της κοινότητας και να συμβάλλει καθοριστικά στην ανάπτυξη της ευρύτερης περιοχής των Μεγάρων. Το έργο υλοποιήθηκε με τη χρηματοδότηση της Περιφέρειας Αττικής και την υποστήριξη του Δήμου Μεγαρέων, παραδοσιακών συλλόγων και ιδιωτών τοπικών χορηγών.
