A dual artistic - research programme of Greek-French cooperation entitled Mystery 57 Climbing over Elefsina and Revisiting the Landscapes of Elefsina was a programme developed over three years as a work in progress within the official programme of the 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture in co-organization with Le Plus Petit Cirque du Monde. The programme focused on both the city and inhabitants of Elefsina and the city of Bagneux in France.
The artistic program Climbing over Elefsina, under the artistic direction of Eleftherios Kechagioglou, directed by Gaëtan Levêque and choreographed by Christina Sougioultzi, brought together three Greek contemporary dance and circus artists from the group ""Ki Omos Kinitai"" and a Greek musician with three French circus artists and three musicians from Le Plus Petit Cirque du Monde (The Smallest Circus in the World), the famous school of ""Arts of Danger"" and international artistic exchanges. A work in progress was created with a presentation of the final form of the show in the title year 2023. The artistic project included during its duration open rehearsals for the public, pop up events in the public space of the city and collaborations with other artistic groups of the 2023 Eleusis artistic program. The research project Revisiting the Landscapes of Elefsina was an itinerant urban planning workshop curated by the award-winning French architect and urban planner Patrick Bouchain and his artistic and scientific team with the free participation of residents and researchers. The aim of the itinerant workshop was to create a model Greek-French collaboration that combined performing arts, such as acrobatics, circus, dance and Mediterranean music, with projects for the regeneration of industrial areas. The results of the three-year research workshop were also presented in the title year 2023 on the same day of presentation of the final performance Climbing over Elefsina.
