MYSTERY 45 Atelier Elefsina 2023
project
Description
The Mystery 45 Atelier Elefsina 2023 took place from 21-27 June 2023 in Elefsina and organized by The Festival Academy (an initiative of the European Festivals Association (EFA)) in partnership with 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture. Coming from 21 countries - Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Greece, India, Israel, Italy, Kenya, Korea, Lebanon, UK, Nigeria, Philippines, Senegal, South Africa, Ukraine, Zimbabwe - 30 talented, emerging festival makers gathered for an intense 7-day programme in Elefsina to critically reflect on the role of festivals in today’s world. An international group of excellent mentors, speakers and experts have gathered both from the festival field and other sectors who will inspire and guide the conversations and working groups. During the Atelier, issues such as the sustainability of festivals, different models of curating, building audiencies/communities, fair artistic collaboration, fundraising, cultural mobility, technology and innovation were addressed among others. This programme falls within the framework of a longstanding partnership between 2023 Eleusis and the Festival Academy that has already resulted in the organisation of two regional programmes: the Atelier for Greek Festival Managers (2019) and the Atelier for Art & Production Managers (2021-2022).
