The Mystery 299 How to Change Our Minds to Change the World was aν innovative three-day symposium co-organized with the World Human Forum, which took place from 27 to 29 September 2023, at the site of the former factory Iris, with the participation of distinguished speakers, researchers and artists from around the world. Its central theme was the different ways of development, both individual and social level towards a higher level of consciousness, in order to deal with global challenges and to contribute to the protection of life on our planet. Topics covering a variety of knowledge fields were discussed, such as antiquity, medicine, humanities, spirituality and art.
In parallel, the audience had the opportunity to participate in exciting discussions, experiential workshops, culinary experiences, artistic activities and musical experiences, culminating, on the last day of the programme, with the premiere of Mystery 14 Human Requiem in Eleusis, a reconstruction of the Human Requiem specially designed for the archaeological site of Eleusis, based on the work of Johannes Brahms Ein Deutsches Requiem (German Requiem), directed by Jochen Sandig and choreographed by Sasha Waltz, with the participation of the 65- member Berlin Radio Choir (Rundfunkchor Berlin).
This symposium was the first in a series of annual meetings - organized by the World Human Forum - that aim to reposition Elefsina on a global level as a reference point on issues of consciousness, self-improvement and connection with ourselves, others and nature. The second one took place in 2024 and was entitled Mystery 299 2nd International Symposium for a New Elefsina - Mysteries of Flourishing – Ancient Roots, Modern Blossoms.
