Mystery 18 Design Objects
project
Description
In the context of the programme section Downtown Creatives and with the aim of promoting and empowering creative professionals, reconnecting with the industrial base of Elefsina, as well as as formulating a renewed aesthetic narrative for the city's long history and trajectory, 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture invited distinguished professionals professionals from the creative industries (artistic groups and/or independent creators) to design unique "products" (items with practical or even symbolic value beyond their commercial worth), inspired by both the contemporary and historical context of the city.
Although the collaboration program was not completed, two distinct items were created:
STAMPED BRICK "ELEFSINA" – Athanasios Katsaras - AMASIS | painter ceramic studio gallery
The Elefsinian ceramic artist and pottery painter, Athanasios Katsaras, created an original ceramic item, a commemorative object/press paper inspired by the traditional stamped brick produced in the furnaces of Elefsina. The entire process followed by the Amasis painter for producing objects is done entirely by hand, continuing the tradition of an art that appeared in the Mediterranean region thousands of years ago.
