Description

The ΕΛΕVΣΙΣ Innovation Lab by 2023 Eleusis is a fully equipped digital fabrication lab created as part of the artistic program of the 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture. It includes cutting-edge equipment for various constructions, ranging from 3D printing, electronic circuits and garments with integrated electronics, to plastic recycling and ceramics. The lab is open to students, professionals, and amateurs from Eleusis and the wider region, offering them the opportunity to engage with the potential that new technologies provide for design and fabrication. Specifically, it was part of the “Center for Capacity Building and Applied Innovation” program, an innovative structure dedicated to skills development, applied education, networking, and innovation for professionals and citizens of all ages, with a focus on cultural education, the creative economy, and digital production as integral components of the fourth industrial revolution. It operated from 2022 to 2024 within the TITAN facilities and, from 2025, will be located on the ground floor of 8 Laskou Street, in the headquarters of 2023 Eleusis. The goal of the lab is to become a vibrant hub for the development of creative thinking and skills, as well as applied education, through a program of training and open networking activities that combine traditional arts with high technology. It aims to serve professionals and citizens of all ages, with the long-term goal of being a significant development center for both Eleusis and the broader region. Since 2022, educational programs have been implemented with various themes and directions, based on the “Fabricated Worlds” program. By the end of 2024, once fully established in its final location, the lab began its systematic activities. The equipment for the lab was procured as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan Greece 2.0, funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU, through the project ""SUB.1.1 - 2023 ELEUSIS: CENTER FOR SKILLS DEVELOPMENT IN THE CULTURAL & CREATIVE SECTOR.
