The Mystery 100 Sacred Songs was a series of events that was focused on traditional events and rituals of the Greek music and dance tradition and lasted from February 2023 to December 2023.
The "Sacred Songs" of November, participating in the celebration of Eleusis which on the same day honors the Virgin Mesosporitissa, they praised the wheat, the olive tree and the vine, the "three goods of the earth" (bread, oil and wine) which are connected with popular events and the religious rituals of our people. “And wine gladdens a man’s heart, it cheers up a man’s face in oil, and bread sustains a man’s heart” (Psalm 104, v. 15).
Selected songs and texts from all regions of Hellenism confirm the experiential connection of popular culture with the fruitfulness of the earth and fertility. Invocations and offerings to the Great Mother-Goddess run through the centuries, passing from the goddess of Agriculture, Demeter, to the Virgin Mesosporitissa. In Eleusis, the "Entrances" of the Virgin are identified with the "Harvest", while the women prepare and distribute the "seeds" for the whole community, in the small church built on the archaeological site above the ancient sanctuary.
The musical performance was dedicated to the singer Domna Samiou, who first collected the songs about the "three goods of the earth".
