Mystery 48 Constellations

Description

The Mystery 48 Constellations was a series of lighting installations (Photosynaxes, Light Sgraffito, Passage) by the Beforelight group scattered throughout the city of Elefsina, which created a bright Constellation of large-scale artistic lighting installations. The installations were created following participatory processes and were placed in focal points of neighborhoods of Elefsina, with the aim of the final artistic result spreading throughout Elefsina, composing a new ""bright"" route. They emerged after workshops held in collaboration with folklor associations and communities of Elefsina, whose stories were the source of inspiration for the Beforelight group. As in every project by the group, the aim was to involve the residents of the neighbourhood in specifc stages of the creative process, through three organised meetings/workshops and other methods of consultation. The goal was that the final artistic result would seek to spread throughout Elefsina, even to purely residential neighbourhoods, composing a potential new route with different light installations in each station. The project was initiated in the context of SYNOIKISMOI A FESTIVAL in 2018 and evolved up to 2023 when the last instalation was copmleted, while a video with interviews of the artists was shown in the frame of IN SITU REALITIES - Eleusis Documentary Festival in December 2023.
