project
Description
Treasure Hunt: "A Mystery Covenant"
"[...] Some mysteries are not revealed all at once. Elefsina holds something for those who visit it again. [...]" (Seneca, ~65 AD).
These, the well-hidden secrets, were discovered by the students of the region, in the 1st Elefsina Treasure Hunt, a creative action of the city's teachers, in the context of the Mystery 68 Stalker, the 2023 Elefsis European Capital of Culture. In a series of 4 workshops, cultural heritage managers, tour guides, gamification experts and artists guided a group of 20 teachers in a series of 4 workshops. The team designed a unique experience in the public space so that the approxiamtely 100 children of Elefsina could discover their city and the concept of the European Capital of Culture from a different perspective. Afterwards, the team members reintroduced Elefsina to their children and, having gained new knowledge and experience, they will be able to plan similar activities in the future.
The treasure hunt was a day full of adventure, history and puzzles, offering a unique opportunity for the young participants to discover the hidden treasure of Elefsina. With its rich history, from antiquity and the Eleusinian Mysteries, to its more recent cultural heritage, Elefsina provides the ideal place for such an exciting educational experience. Students toured the city and worked together to solve puzzles and unravel the mystery. The event not only provided a fun-filled day, but also an opportunity to connect with the cultural richness of their city.
